Auxiliary
to Austin Fire
Est. 1956

About Us
We are the heart behind the heroes. What started in May of 1956 as the Ladies Auxiliary to the Austin Firefighters Association, Local 975 has evolved into a dynamic, high-energy 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of our entire fire family.
We provide a vital bridge between the station and the home. Whether we are lobbying for firefighter safety at City Hall, coordinating meal trains for families in need, providing mental health resources for firefighters and families, or hosting legendary social events like our Annual Fire Fest and Day with Santa, our vision is clear - to ensure no one in our fire family walks alone.
From the first day of the Academy to a well-earned retirement, the Auxiliary is here to fuel the strength, resilience, and connection of the Austin Fire family.
What We Do:
-
Advocacy: We are a bold voice at City Hall, fighting for the staffing and safety resources our crews deserve.
-
Logistical Aid: From organizing food delivery and childcare, to home maintenance/repairs, we step in during injuries or emergencies to lift the "mental load" for fire families.
-
Mental Health & Peer Support: As official members of the Peer Support Team, we provide a community of spouses and family members who truly "get" the fire life.
-
Family Preparedness: Through our "Red Binder" initiative, we help families navigate the tough stuff, like Wills and Power of Attorney.
-
Station Outreach: Our "Station Mom" volunteers adopt local stations to provide treats, check-in on crews, and celebrate life’s big milestones.
